Today is Breathe day…What is it?
Breathe Day is a day of unapologetically Black programming on the day of the first Presidential debate—a time and place for discussing Black issues and how the Breathe Act will Defund the Police and create a future for all of us to thrive.
Here is the full schedule for BREATHE Day. Watch the video above for an overview, and make sure to tune into some of the programming below. And if you haven’t already, sign up as a supporter of the Breathe Act today.
Here’s what’s going down September 29.

9:00 AM PST / 12 PM EST:
BREATHE for Breonna Taylor with Michelle Alexander and Kerry Washington
Thank you to Kerry Washington for lending us her platform to discuss how Breonna Taylor’s case connects to specific components of the BREATHE Act.
10:00 AM PST / 1 PM EST:
Lunchtime Changemakers with Jurnee Smollett & Movement For Black Lives
We appreciate our ally Jurnee Smollett as she’s granted us her space to hold a critical conversation between two Movement For Black Lives activists.
Together, they’ll discuss the tension between the importance of advancing BREATHE, our legislative love letter, and taking action now and voting for candidates that may not support our vision but do help create the environment where we can fight for BREATHE.
11:00 AM PST / 2:00 PM EST:
Afternoon Snack
For those who joined The BREATHE Act Teach In — you’ll recognize our friend Jalakoi Solomon! This will be a bite-size 20 minute IG Live overviewing The Breathe Act, answering FAQs, and learning how to support this effort.
12:00 PM PST / 3:00 PM EST
